Hanson Professional Services Inc. is seeking a candidate for our traffic engineering team in Peoria, Illinois.
The desired candidate has 0-5 years of experience with a focus on traffic engineering and transportation planning. Our new teammate would be expected to support staff on a variety of traffic engineering and planning projects and take an active role in collaborating on concept development and innovative ways to approach projects. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with an eagerness to take on different projects and learn new technical and professional skills. This position is primarily responsible for completing technical tasks on varied transportation planning and engineering projects and presenting the information through reports, meetings, and presentations.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:
Complete roadway capacity analysis using Highway Capacity Software, Synchro, and Vissim Data analysis using GIS, Excel, and other computer software programs Study roadway geometric and cross section alternatives Attend project meetings with project managers and clients Prepare memorandums and reports outlining project methodologies and results Develop project approaches that bring the project from beginning to end
Analyzing intersections and corridors using Highway Capacity Software, Synchro, and Vissim
Understanding of the Highway Safety Manual and Highway Capacity Manual
Designing roadways based on AASHTO, MUTCD, and IDOT standards
Building effective relationships with internal client bases
Working independently and as a team member
Creative problem solving
A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering is required
A minimum of 0-5 years of experience in traffic engineering
Candidate must possess an Engineer Intern license or the ability to obtain one in 6 months
Collaborate remotely with colleagues in other offices
Candidate must be willing to accept out-of-town travel assignments
Must be willing to work overtime to meet project demands when needed
