The Quality Engineering Group Leader, Receiving Inspection supports the inspection of received materials. The successful candidate is responsible for leading a group of quality control inspectors. The Quality Engineering Group Leader, Receiving Inspection will implement improvements to inspection processes and prepare and process nonconformance reports. The successful candidate communicates with QA management, Engineering and Operations as needed to facilitate effective inspection and manufacturing, while performing other duties as assigned by management. Typical job duties might include:
Supporting quality control inspectors to inspect received materials.
Resolving technical issues related to inspection activities of incoming materials.
Supporting activities to implement receiving inspection process improvements such as fixturing, automated inspections, electronic data collection and electronic record keeping.
Providing technical support for measuring equipment such as micrometers, light microscopes, video microscope measuring systems, laser measuring systems, tensile testers, force gauges, etc.
Supporting the implementation of new measuring equipment.
Preparing and processing nonconformance reports and other documentation.
Tracking and reporting inspection metrics.
Providing input to QA management.
Communicating with Engineering and Operations as needed to report issues and to improve and maintain high quality levels.
Assuring product release testing is completed prior to releasing product to finished goods.
Assuring product pre- and post-sterilization activities are completed prior to releasing product to finished goods.
Assisting in the training of quality control inspectors to documented procedures.
Prioritizing work for quality control inspectors.
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or Quality Engineering (preferred).
Five (5) years of experience in medical device quality environment.
Two (2) years of supervisory/leadership experience.
Strong understanding of basic metrology.
Ability to understand supplier documentation (i.e. certification of conformance, material, MSDS etc.).
Ability to read and prepare technical documentation.
Good knowledge of inspection equipment and tools used to examine components, materials and/or product/assemblies.
Knowledge of medical product manufacturing and quality.
Computer skills, including Word and Excel, are desired.
Good communication skills (written and oral).
The primary work location for this position is Tustin, CA (the company will be relocating to a new facility in Aliso Viejo, CA in Q3 2017).
Relocation may be available for qualified candidates.
