The Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatics Engineering (CEGE: http://www.cege.fau.edu/), together with The Institute for Sensing and Embedded Network Systems Engineering (I-SENSE: http://isense.fau.edu/) are seeking outstanding candidates for a tenure-track faculty position in the areas of Intelligent Transportation Systems/Smart Structures.
While an Assistant Professor is sought, candidates at all ranks will be considered. The incumbent will be expected to perform research and supervise graduate students in areas of importance to I-SENSE and CEGE; and to develop and grow a strong, externally funded research program. Teaching responsibilities will focus on senior-level undergraduate and graduate-level courses in the areas of Intelligent Transportation Systems/Smart Structures, as well as specialized topics in his/her field of expertise.
Doctoral degree in Civil Engineering or in a related field required by time of appointment.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to contribute to and play a leadership role in advancing research at FAU required.
Prior experience in intelligent transportation systems, autonomous and connected vehicles, highway and traffic operations, big data analytics, travel demand and traffic operations modeling, multimodal transportation systems, infrastructure systems modeling, structural health monitoring, sensing-based damage detection, or wireless sensor technologies for sustainable infrastructure preferred.
