Augspurger Komm Engineering (AKE) is a multi-disciplinary forensic engineering firm providing failure and accident causation analysis and expert witness testimony for insurance and litigation clients. Our facility includes both office and laboratory space used for examinations and testing. We are seeking an experienced electrical engineer to conduct investigations in matters involving personal injury and electrical failures, including fire causation. To be successful at our firm employees must excel in three general areas; 1) technical knowledge and problem solving; 2) written and verbal communication; & 3) presentation.
As an electrical engineer at AKE you will be tasked with evaluating cases ranging from product failures and malfunctions, to personal injuries involving power distribution systems. You will regularly be tasked with determining compliance with applicable codes and standards, as well as industry practices. You are the project manager on every case you are assigned. As such you will be tasked with ensuring cases are handled effectively and efficiently. This will often involve the use of support staff for research and the construction and execution of laboratory testing. Peer review is also an important part of our process and you will be regularly asked for input on other cases and encouraged to work with others on the cases you have.
In order to be effective, you must possess strong communication skills. Our clients range from newly hired insurance adjusters to highly experienced attorneys and we often work with and alongside contractors and homeowners. Successful communication with these individuals throughout the investigation is a must.
Typically, your work will culminate in the form of a report. Reports should clearly convey the conclusions reached, as well as the path taken to reach them (i.e. basis). Reports will typically include illustrated diagrams, proper citations of referenced material, and be written in generally common parlance. When testifying in a deposition or at trial, presentation is key. To be of value to the client, you must be able to effectively educate an audience and convey technical information to people with non-technical backgrounds.
The full time position includes health, dental and vision benefits, as well as a matching 401K program.
