We are seeking an experienced professional with skills and qualifications in the following area: Job # 17-0004 – Engineer, Design (Pipeline) – Owensboro, KY Position Information: This position reports directly to the Manager of Design Engineering and provides engineering direction and technical assistance for the design, development, and execution of natural gas facilities; including but not limited to: measurement, regulation, compression, storage, and other related gas transmission and gas storage equipment and facilities while operating under routine, direct supervision of the Manager and with guidance from experienced design engineers (subject to prior experience and skill level).
Primary Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include (but not limited to):
Design • Provide mechanical engineering design support, develop project scopes and estimates, provide project site layouts, and justification of projects under the periodic review of a senior engineer or the Manager. • Specify mechanical equipment and materials for various gas transmission and gas storage projects. • Independently design, including engineering calculations, or design coordination on more complex projects under periodic review of a senior engineer or the Manager (subject to prior experience and skill level). • Independently initiate and complete service contracts under periodic review of the Manager. • Assist with development and implementation of Company design standards and specifications. • Research and analyze technical data, industry specifications and standards, and vendor manuals to determine feasibility of design and/or application and to maintain knowledge and understanding of applicable technologies.
Project Support • Assist in the development of construction related contracts. • Support and monitor on-site project inspection and facility commissioning. • Provide assistance to project management staff in the areas of project budgeting and expense forecasting and work independently with regard to this responsibility under periodic review from a more senior engineer or the Manager (subject to prior experience and skill level). • Independently monitor project progress reports and other project related work and provide support to project management staff as needed. • Assist in monitoring facility design and construction for compliance with all business objectives, applicable regulations, and Company policies and procedures ? Communication and Collaboration
• Work independently with internal business partners and project team members to develop measurement, compressor, pipeline and storage facilities in accordance with business needs. Work may be reviewed by a senior engineer. • Work independently with third-party engineering consulting firms on more complex projects to ensure facilities meet all applicable standards, specifications, policies, and requirements of internal and external business partners. Work is reviewed by the Manager. • Work independently with external customers to develop Company measurement, compressor, pipeline and storage facilities required for the Company to serve the commercial needs. Work is reviewed. • Provide (under periodic review) mechanical engineering technical support, troubleshooting, and problem solving for operating issues relating to horsepower and gas compressors, regulating and measurement equipment, electronic automation, pipeline and other gas transmission and storage facilities and equipment. • Participate in Company and industry studies and projects to enhance the overall safety, reliability, and efficiency of the gas transmission and storage systems. • Serve as Company liaison at community events, help with volunteer efforts
