Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure is seeking an Entry- to Mid-level Geotechnical Design Engineer eager to join our team in Nashville and participate on wide variety of projects.
Types of projects typically include the following:
•Foundation design (shallow and deep) •Permanent and temporary earth retention design (cantilever and anchored sheet pile and soldier piles, soil nail walls, etc.) •Landslide stabilization and remediation •Dam and levee evaluation
Subsurface exploration •Site characterization
Projects are located throughout the United States. Candidate will have opportunity to collaborate with personnel at other Amec Foster Wheeler offices.
Key Responsibilities •Conduct evaluation and design-related tasks including settlement and bearing capacity evaluations for shallow and deep foundations, retaining wall support, slope stability analyses, and seepage and piping evaluations; •Perform structural analyses and design of foundation and retaining wall systems; •Plan, conduct, implement, and oversee geotechnical field investigations, including directing drilling and excavation contractors; •Travel to observe drilling, meet clients, and / or visit sites in support of design and construction for both short-term and long-term field assignments; •Prepare construction field reports and internal correspondence; •Review, evaluate, and compile field and laboratory data, and conduct engineering evaluations for design of geotechnical and civil construction projects; •Prepare geotechnical investigation reports in support of design and construction projects; and •Prepare design drawings and specifications, bidding documents, and construction summary documents
Skills / Qualifications •Minimum of Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET Accredited College / University; Master’s degree preferred •Have a 0 to 3 years of related work experience in geotechnical and / or structural engineering •PE license or have passed the FE exam and pursuing PE registration within two years •Well organized with the ability to multi-task and have good communication (written and oral) skills •Client-focused, a self-starter and advancement oriented •Be proficient with various design software applications, such as:
?L-pile and / or GROUP ?Slope / W; Seep / W; MathCAD and finite-element analyses ?AutoCAD and / or MicroStation ?Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
•Valid Driver's License •Able to lift up to 50 pounds and traverse over rugged terrain •Working knowledge of geotechnical and structural design •Pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
