Postdoctoral scholar opening in the laboratory of Dr. Karl Kador at the University of Missouri-Kansas City in the field of regenerative medicine for the treatment of vision diseases. This position will focus on the use of tissue engineering techniques, combining biodegradable scaffolds with guidance cues expressed during development and 3D bioprinting for the design of models for both the retina and the cornea. Functional endpoints will be used for analyzing experiments with a goal of moving forward with in vivo testing and translating technologies. The successful applicant will be expected to design and conduct experiments, analyze results, write manuscripts and present results at national meetings. Recent Ph.D. or M.D. graduates with a background in neuroscience, neural engineering or vision science are especially encouraged to apply. Special consideration will be given to candidates with experience in electrophysiology, whole cell patch clamping or calcium imaging or 3D cell printing.
