One full-time and one part-time position available with KCMO’s Public Works Department, Capital Projects Division, 5310 Municipal Ave. Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. for fulltime and 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. for part-time. Prepares and reviews traffic signal modification and traffic control plans and base maps using computer aided drafting (ACAD) system. Prepares as-built drawings and calculates bid quantities. Prepares and reviews traffic signal timing plans and updates as needed, using computerized traffic signal programs. Work is performed under the direction of a Signal Timing Engineer. Inspects construction projects involving new traffic signal installations and remodeling of existing signals. Ensures contractor compliance with contract documents and time. Prepares pay estimates. Assists in developing signal timing plans. Conducts field investigations to evaluate the performance of the signal timing plans. Identifies safety, geometric and congestion issues through review of traffic counts and inspection of intersections. Must have knowledge of principles & practices of traffic engineering, including standards & policies. Must have ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. Provides support with the division's winter snow removal duties.
REQUIRES an ABET accredited Bachelor's degree in any professionally recognized architectural/ engineering discipline as required by the hiring authority. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen as prescribed by the City
