The Manager, Electric Operations is a Disney Cast Member. This role reports to the Director of Reedy Creek Energy Services (RCES) and is a leader-of-front-line leaders. The RCES Electric Operations group is comprised of Disney Cast Members that manage the electric utility system owned by the Reedy Creek Improvement District (RCID) supplying the Walt Disney World Resort. The electric utility system includes 69kV overhead and underground transmission lines, 69/12kV substations, 12kV distribution system, control systems and plant electrical systems. This role is responsible for safe, reliable and efficient operation of the electric utility field operations and distribution control center (system operations). The field operations and control center operate around the clock providing coverage seven days a week.
Provide leadership to approximately 14 salaried professionals and 55 front-line, skilled trades Cast Members.
Typically manages a $9 to $10M annual expense budget.
Lead a culture of safety through active and caring engagement with Cast Members to support the vision that “no one gets hurt”.
Responsible for planned and corrective maintenance activities for the electric transmission, substation and distribution system, instrumentation and controls across utilities and the electric SCADA system.
Ensure electric system operation is conducted in accordance with NERC reliability standards
Review, approve and coordinate electric outages and switching requirements on the distribution system to support customer needs and system refurbishment and growth
Provide operations input to the long-term planning process for all electric systems
Participate in new project design reviews to provide operations input
Review, modify and implement policies and procedures to ensure consistent and safe work practices and training.
Perform inspections and field audits of maintenance and capital work performed.
Review/approve financial activity relating to divisional operations in accordance with approved budgets
Lead implementation and sustainment of the enterprise asset management system, Maximo for Utilities
Ten years of progressive leadership experience working with electric utilities.
Detailed knowledge of applicable safety standards, work methods, practices and training.
Must be flexible and available to respond to after-hour emergencies under short notice on any given day, at any given time. This includes responding to emergencies outside of normal work shift.
Demonstrated knowledge of electric system operation, switching and maintenance practices
Previous experience supervising in a unionized environment
Demonstrated experience using an enterprise asset management system.
Strong computer skills; working knowledge of Microsoft office products with the ability to learn other software applications.
Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principals involved in production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models.
Ability to perform work in a variety of field environments
Familiarity with NERC standards
Knowledge and implementation of error reduction techniques (human performance)
Familiarity with automated distribution systems/schemes
Previous experience supervising/leading a distribution control centers (system operations)
Knowledge of Maximo for Utilities
Bachelor’s Degree in technical field and ten (10) years of related experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
Registration as a Professional Engineer
Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA)
