So what does a Fire Alarm Technician at Michael Baker International do?
The Fire Alarm Technician is responsible for providing specific responsibility for installing, repairing and/or replacing fire alarm systems and related equipment; maintaining a regular inspection schedule; documenting activities; assisting other skilled trades; and ensuring that tools and materials are available as needed.. This position is based in the Washington DC Metro area, with periodic overseas travel.
Can you walk me through a typical day of a Fire Alarm Technician?
You will inspect, test, maintain and repair fire detection and suppression systems both addressable and conventional type.
You will identify equipment and materials needed to perform the requirements.
You will develop trip reports after a trip to document efforts and results.
You will inspect newly installed fire suppression systems and systems such as smoke control systems, egress control, emergency lighting, exit lighting, and other life safety systems.
You will assist with the development of written technical requirements, project scopes, testing plans, and other written technical documentation pertaining to their field of expertise.
Could I be the Fire Alarm Technician Michael Baker International is looking for?
NICET Level II (or equivalent) in Fire Alarm Systems or Inspection and Testing of Fire Alarm Systems.
5 Years' fire sprinkler and/or fire pump experience performed at the Journeyman level.
Certification for at least one of the following fire alarm systems:
Notifier ONYX (3030/640/320)
Siemens System 3
Simplex 4100 U
You must have an active Secret clearance.
Must possess computer skills, Excel, Word, spread sheets, e-mail.
Must possess valid current US passport.
Maintenance journeymen or master technicians experience highly desired.
Prior military experience is preferred.
5 years experience at Journeyman's level.
Experience working with diverse cultures in an austere, hazardous environment is referable.
