The staff of the Engineering, Hydrology and Geology Program provides technical assistance to the Mining and Mitigation Program, and other programs within the Division of Water Resource Management. The staff primarily reviews and evaluates Environmental Resource Permit (ERP) applications for mines and mitigation banks, Conceptual Reclamation Plans for mines, in compliance with Chapters 211, 373, 377 and 378, Florida Statutes.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct engineering reviews and provide comments on storm water management facilities and other structural aspects of mining, reclamation and wetland mitigation activities in Florida as part of the review of Environmental Resource Permit applications, Conceptual Reclamation Plans, and permit compliance activities.
Conduct on-site inspections of mines and reclamation sites to confirm the existing site conditions and to support the engineering review of proposed activities.
Develop and maintain a working knowledge of computer modeling in hydraulics and hydrological, and mine waste disposal analysis. Maintain a working knowledge of reclamation and waste disposal practices and storm water management design and best management practices.
Possess a Bachelors or graduate degree in civil or geological engineering, or environmental engineering in related elective course track.
Storm water engineering and design professional experience.
Licensure as a Professional Engineer in the State of Florida.
A valid driver’s license.
Additional Salary Information: Salary $56,500 - $63,000 and benefits: leave, pension plan, health plan with minimal employee premium. Position title and starting compensation commensurate with professional work experience. This employee will be located in Tallahassee, Florida.
