The City is seeking an experienced, responsible, and highly organized professional to serve as City Engineer. This position oversees, directs, and participates in the engineering functions of the City, including short- and long-term Capital Improvement Program planning, development and administration of Federal, State, and local funds for capital improvements and expansions, and provides professional-level support to assigned management staff in a variety of areas. Successful performance of the work requires an extensive professional background as well as skill in coordinating departmental work with that of other City departments and public agencies. Responsibilities include performing and directing many of the department's day-to-day administrative functions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in civil engineering, or a related field, and seven years of management and/or administrative experience in civil engineering and capital improvement program administration, including five years of supervisory experience. A Master's degree in related fields is highly desirable. Possess and maintain a valid certificate or registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California. Valid California class C driver's license with satisfactory driving record and automobile insurance.
