The Quality Engineer should be familiar with various inspection techniques and be able to act as an auditor for all our internal/external systems, identifying issues and recommending solutions. In addition, this position will oversee and improve the measuring system throughout all manufacturing processes. The individual must have a positive mindset and work well in teams.
Improvement Initiatives: Identify opportunities to improve quality across the business by defining data to be collected and using Pareto analysis to analyze data. Assist quality improvement initiatives to drive improvement and reduce waste.
Develops various quality experiments/trials: Applies DOE techniques (including ANOVA).
Meets with production team to offer recommendations: Participates in key meetings to share quality metrics, ideas, etc.
Gaging: Use Gage R&R to evaluate current measuring methods and make improvements. Design and implement new gaging, troubleshoot or make improvements to current gages, set calibration intervals and practices.
Manage Calibration Program: Set calibration intervals and train QC Techs best practices.
Auditing: Conduct internal and external audits in a professional manner. Build relationships and trust with those being audited while being constructive with critiques.
Production Part Approval Process
Product Development: Oversee the PPAP/ First Piece processes for new product launches and new vendor qualification.
Control Plans: Maintain control plans for all current product and develop sampling requirements for new product.
Identifies key processes requiring FMEA’s & control plans: Participate in FMEA exercises during new product development and make recommendations to aid in a consistent /high quality product.
2+ years previous quality experience
Hands-on experience with Quality Management Systems and testing methodologies
Associates degree in Engineering or related
ASQ or related professional certification a plus
Proficient in statistical analysis tools such as T-tests, capability studies, confidence intervals, DOE, regression analysis and control charts in a manufacturing environment.
In-depth understanding of technical documentation such as ASTM.
Must be knowledgeable in the ISO 9001 quality standard.
Must be able to read blueprints and monitoring gages.
Analytical and investigative skills; applies problem-solving techniques such as 5 Why, 8D and DMAIC.
Ability to think logically and methodically.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work well in a team environment (ie: internal/external resources, vendors, customers).
Auditing skills for effective internal/external audits.
