C2 Environmental is seeking a mid-level Environmental Engineer/Specialist for our rapidly growing team. The Environmental Engineer/Specialist I/II position is responsible for a variety of project support related tasks. Duties may include conducting regular inspections of active land disturbing activities in accordance with the Construction General Permit (CGP) under the Virginia Stormwater Management Program (VSMP), assisting with or leading field data collection and surveys, erosion and sediment control planning, report writing and other office-related functions. The qualified applicant will have knowledge or experience in erosion and sediment control planning, environmental compliance inspections, CADD/GIS mapping and plan development, and permit application and document preparation. The position requires that coordination with clients in both written and verbal formats. The position requires field work and travel (approximately 50%) primarily, but not limited to, Virginia and North Carolina. Some overnight travel may be required.

The qualified applicant is expected to demonstrate some or all of the following:
B.S. or M.S. degree in engineering, environmental science, geology or a related degree in environmental or physical sciences
EIT certification for engineer applicants is a plus
2+ years experience in consulting strongly preferred
Basic to intermediate knowledge in engineering and environmental science consulting practices as they relate to: erosion and sediment control planning, stormwater design, wetland and waters permitting, site plan development, traffic control planning, NPDES permitting and construction compliance
Virginia DEQ Certified Erosion and Sediment Control and Stormwater Management Inspector or ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire
Experience in the preparation of Clean Water Act Section 404/401 permits for authorization from the US Army Corps of Engineers and state environmental agencies
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge and familiarity of CADD and/or GIS
Ability to work well in diverse groups of people and with minimal direct supervision
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to remote job site locations on a daily basis
Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions and terrains (position is approximately 50% field work)
