This Instructor position will teach courses primarily in geotechnical engineering and other lower-division civil engineering topics in the School of Civil and Construction Engineering (CCE) at Oregon State University. The successful candidate may be offered opportunity to pursue research funding within their field of expertise. While not required for the position, these additional opportunities reflect the college’s understanding of the critical nature of ongoing professional growth and development for all.
One of five schools in the College of Engineering, CCE is committed to advancing knowledge in the built environment. CCE offers B.S., M.S., M.Eng., and Ph.D. degrees in Civil Engineering and B.S. degrees in Architectural Engineering and Construction Engineering Management. CCE currently enrolls approximately 800 undergraduate and 180 graduate students. The 40+ current faculty have specializations in architectural engineering, construction engineering management, engineering education, geomatics engineering, geotechnical engineering, infrastructure materials engineering, ocean and coastal engineering, structural engineering, transportation engineering, and water resources engineering.
By date of employment, you must have earned a doctoral degree with an emphasis in geotechnical engineering or a master’s degree with an emphasis in geotechnical engineering plus significant professional and/or university teaching experience. You must possess the knowledge and ability to teach courses in geotechnical engineering. You must be committed to promoting and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion. You must be an effective communicator.
The above are the minimum/required qualifications for hiring at the rank of Instructor. Additional preferred qualifications include experience teaching at the college or university level, experience developing and delivering courses via an online modality, and professional experience related to civil and construction engineering practice.
