Paradigm Environmental is currently seeking an Associate Water Resources Engineer/Scientist to join our highly motivated and talented team of engineers and modelers in our San Diego, CA office. Assist in the application of watershed and water quality models to rivers, lakes, and costal waterbodies in both urban and natural settings
Acquire and process datasets, perform supporting calculations, and document results
Conduct data analysis using statistical and other common techniques to evaluate and synthesize complex datasets
Performs basic GIS analysis for both stand-alone desktop mapping and in support of water resources model development
Support development of web-based products and applications
Must be comfortable working in a highly collaborative team environment
At least 3 years directly relevant experience
Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering or science (advanced degree a plus)
Solid understanding of basic hydrology, water quality and stormwater BMP processes
Experience building, cleaning and maintaining large water resources related datasets
A strong understanding of GIS principles and proficiency performing common analysis tasks. Experience with open-source and web-based platforms a plus
Basic programming skills and experience using at least one language. Experience with web development using Python or R a plus
Advanced comfort level with both Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access
Familiarity with various hydrology and water quality models a plus. Common examples include but are not limited to SWMM, HSPF, LSPC, and SWAT
