Paradigm Environmental is currently seeking an Associate Water Resources Engineer/Scientist to join our highly motivated and talented team of engineers and modelers in our San Diego, CA office.  Job Summary

  • Assist in the application of watershed and water quality models to rivers, lakes, and costal waterbodies in both urban and natural settings
  • Acquire and process datasets, perform supporting calculations, and document results
  • Conduct data analysis using statistical and other common techniques to evaluate and synthesize complex datasets
  • Performs basic GIS analysis for both stand-alone desktop mapping and in support of water resources model development
  • Support development of web-based products and applications
  • Must be comfortable working in a highly collaborative team environment

Qualifications 

  • At least 3 years directly relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering or science (advanced degree a plus)
  • Solid understanding of basic hydrology, water quality and stormwater BMP processes
  • Experience building, cleaning and maintaining large water resources related datasets
  • A strong understanding of GIS principles and proficiency performing common analysis tasks. Experience with open-source and web-based platforms a plus
  • Basic programming skills and experience using at least one language. Experience with web development using Python or R a plus
  • Advanced comfort level with both Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access
  • Familiarity with various hydrology and water quality models a plus. Common examples include but are not limited to SWMM, HSPF, LSPC, and SWAT

  • Ability to work in a closely collaborative internal environment and an ability to professionally interact with clients
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task under strict deadlines
  • Ability to commit to consistent weekly hours and schedule
  • Demonstrated initiative and drive to succeed with new and challenging tasks
  • Preference given to candidates located in San Diego and available to start soon
