RESPONSIBLE/REPORTING TO: Quality Assurance (QA) Manager
ROLE: AJAX is looking for a Field Engineer to join the onsite project construction team in eastern Washington. Your primary responsibility will be to support all aspects of the QA process in the field and to work closely with our QA Manager in a dynamic work environment which requires you to roll up your sleeves and think on your feet. Our ideal candidate has a strong civil, environmental, geotechnical and/or construction interest with a desire for construction-related field work.
Provide QA oversight and monitoring of the contractor’s quality control (QC) program during remedial action construction phases of the project.
Collaborate with the contractor’s engineering group, operations crews, surveyors and others during various project-related construction activities.
Review drawings and specifications; comprehensive understanding of all related design documents.
Monitor the execution of various construction activities and inspect and record workmanship and capture progress of work activities in daily QA reports.
Maintain field notes, construction photographs and monitoring reports and files.
Identify and resolve quality-related issues in a timely manner; gather and document technical information; remain open to others’ ideas; communicate clearly in a positive manner.
Conduct inspections and audits of materials and workmanship necessary to determine and document the construction end-product complies with the quality established by the project documentation.
Document construction observations, materials inspections and field testing; ensure accuracy of all data collected.
Report any non-conformance concerns or issues encountered to the QA Manager in a timely manner for immediate rework or resolution.

SCHEDULE: The position is expected to work a 10-hour shift, 5 days per week, Monday through Friday.
Minimum B.S. degree in civil or environmental engineering, or construction management.
0-5 years of civil/mining/environmental/construction project experience is required.
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written skills.
Organized and efficient as well as having a methodical approach to work practices with strong emphasis on quality; ability to prioritize daily tasks.
Team player with the ability to work independently to meet daily deadlines, goals and objectives.
Available to work an occasional weekend day, if needed.
Good physical condition; ability to stoop, sit, stand, lift, or be on your feet for extended periods.
Valid driver’s license.
