Location: Maricopa Association of Governments, downtown Phoenix, Arizona.
MAG is seeking a team-oriented transportation engineer to fill the Transportation Engineer I position in the Transportation Data Program, Transportation Technologies and Services Division. The transportation data program is responsible for transportation data management, including data acquisition and collection, data analysis, data processing and application for transportation planning, forecasting, modeling and transportation system analysis purposes.
Under the direction of the Transportation Data Program Manager, the successful applicant will work on transportation data collection and processing, data analysis and visualization, transportation model validations, analytical and modeling software development, analytical data application and other data management tasks as assigned. Project management duties, preparation of professional documents and administrative tasks will be assigned as well. The ideal candidate will have a traffic engineering or data analytics professional education, preferably at a postgraduate level and at least 1 year of practical experience with real-life projects. Working knowledge of MS Windows, MS Office Suite, strong communication and teamworking skills are a must. Knowledge of Python, R, Java software, and/or statistical packages/languages such as Matlab, SPSS is desirable. Experience working with ESRI GIS, TransCAD, TransModeler, Dynameq, DynusT or other transportation modeling software will be a plus.
Experience and Education
A Bachelor’s degree in transportation engineering, civil engineering, or related field with a minimum of one (1) year of experience in transportation engineering and/or planning is required. A Master’s degree in related field is preferred. Public agency or engineering consulting experience is desirable. EIT certification is a plus.
