The Traffic Signal Principal Engineer is responsible for the proper location, design, construction, maintenance, and operation of traffic signals, traffic signal systems, and managing the PASSAGE network integrator’s plans and schematics.
Regular hours of work are Monday through Friday, from 8:00am - 4:30pm. Alternative work schedules are available including varying start times and some remote work opportunities.
SALARY: $36.87 - $47.30 Hourly
Optimization of signal timings and coordination plans.
Reviewing and preparing traffic signal studies.
Reviewing Intersection Design Studies (IDS) and intersection improvement plans.
Reviewing and performing intersection and system traffic signal capacity analysis.
Further expand the County’s investment in ITS technology.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
Minimum of six years of professional engineering experience.
Possession of a Professional Engineer (PE) license issued from the State of Illinois and a valid driver’s license.
Knowledge of traffic signal systems and Automated Traffic Signal Performance Measures (ATSPM) preferred.
Any offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background screening, drug and alcohol testing and may include a pre-employment medical exam.
