The Dean, reporting to senior executive management, oversees a school, division, academic program and/or function to enhance its profile, visibility, and effectiveness. The Dean develops long- and short-range plans, and exercises management responsibility for academic program planning, faculty matters, and administration, including staffing, budgets, and facilities. They foster a high-quality environment of academic teaching, research, and intellectual achievement, and creates and strengthens partnerships within and outside the College as a strong advocate.
The City College of New York (CCNY) seeks an exceptional individual to serve as its next Dean of the Grove School of Engineering. As the chief academic officer for the School of Engineering, the Dean will set the standard for intellectual engagement and accomplishment and provide strategic and operational leadership to all aspects of the academic and scholarly programs. In concert with the faculty, the Dean will be responsible for student success and faculty recruitment, retention, and diversity and will also promote a strong research agenda for faculty and oversee the establishment of new disciplinary and interdisciplinary programs.

The Dean will be a visionary in helping the School to realize its academic and scholarly mission, to engage its distinguished alumni and local community, and to guide the School to new levels of achievement and renown.
This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience.
Earned doctorate or equivalent terminal degree with a record of distinguished scholarship, research, and teaching, suitable for appointment as a tenured full professor. The candidate must also have significant administrative experience.
