JOB TITLE: Research Scientist Molecular Plant Pathology
Reports to: CTO
The Research Scientist will help develop safer and more effective products for farmers by leading studies to identify and screen novel small molecules for their ability to provide disease protection in crops.
Core responsibilities include: develop and adapt methods to screen novel molecules in plants, apply statistical methods to interpret results, collaborate with R&D staff within and outside the organization, and contribute to commercialization activities.
This position offers the opportunity to be part of a fast-paced, interdisciplinary team developing innovative crop protection products for sustainable agriculture. The successful candidate will play a key role in the development, optimization, and commercialization of Ascribe Bio’s next-generation agricultural products.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: · Ph.D. in Plant Pathology, Plant Science, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related fields
1+ years prior experience in developing, optimizing, and conducting molecular/biochemical and/or plant pathology experiments
Ability to analyze data, synthesize results from multiple sources, and make concise recommendations
Demonstrated technical leadership skills to manage multiple projects and collaborate successfully with coworkers and external partners
Ability to work independently, take initiative, and prioritize assignments with attention to detail
Entrepreneurial attitude and willingness to solve problems in a fast-paced, start-up environment
This position will work primarily in a laboratory, greenhouse, and office environment. This role routinely uses laboratory equipment and standard office equipment.
Potential for 1-3 direct reports
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: The position may require occasional travel (<15%) to visit field trials or meet with collaborators
