GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
Reporting to the Manager, Trolley Overhead, the Trolley Overhead Technical Supervisor is accountable for the maintenance and inspection of the Trolley Overhead network. Ensures that all Trolley Overhead maintenance work, inspections, design and new construction work is performed in accordance with the trolley standards. Provides technical direction to crews engaged in maintenance and repair work. Develops new inspection and maintenance policies, standards and procedures. Maintains an information management system, including trolley overhead drawings and statistics on operation, maintenance and repairs. Performs analysis of system statistics to identify and recommend solutions to maintenance and operational problems.
ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Performs a variety of inspection and technical duties related to ensuring the trolley overhead network is maintained in optimum operating condition, including:
a) performing high level and ground level inspections of the overhead network, identifying maintenance, repair and improvement requirements, and making recommendations to increase network efficiency and operating life;
b) preparing work orders and drawings for necessary repairs and improvements;
c) providing technical direction to crews engaged in maintenance, repair and other overhead work;
d) modifying existing overhead by redesigning layout; reviews new overhead design drawings to ensure conformance to standards;
e) reviewing completed service orders and performing random inspections of completed work to ensure conformance to standards; inspecting construction work for adherence to standards and design specifications.
2. Develops new inspection and maintenance policies, standards and procedures, subject to senior management approval, and revisions to existing trolley overhead inspection procedures and standards.
3. Establishes maintenance guidelines and defines criteria on frequency and wear condition for repairs and part replacement.
4. Maintains an information management system including:
a) trolley overhead drawings, statistics on operation, maintenance and repairs;
b) modifying system to meet all on-going changes in operational, statistical and reporting requirements;
c) investigating problems related to maintenance and analyzing system statistics to identify potential maintenance and operational problems;
d) recommending solutions to prevent service disruptions;
e) liaising with IS personnel in the design and implementation of computer systems and
enhancements to ensure section computer hardware and software requirements are met;
f) utilizing computer systems to update records, prepare drawings and generate service orders and a variety of reports.
5. Performs special inspections, as required, as a result of trouble reports, modifications or improvements to the system, requests from other departments, new construction, etc.
6. Conducts studies and prepares technical reports on problems related to trolley overhead component design and maintenance problems. Designs overhead components to improve system efficiency.
7. Provides technical expertise to investigations related to new and existing products beyond the scope of trolley overhead equipment. Participates in related inter-departmental projects as required.
